Dirge is a 1985 G1 Decepticon Plane and a retool of the original Starscream mold, transforming into a modified F-15 fighter jet with distinctive delta wings and front canards. Unlike Starscream, Dirge features simplified non-firing concussion missiles, while his robot mode is defined by the iconic “conehead” design shared with fellow Coneheads Ramjet and Thrust. For collectors, keeping the nose cone extended in robot mode better matches Dirge’s cartoon character model.
Originally released in the United States, Europe, and Japan, Dirge has several notable vintage variations. The Japanese release was available only as a 1986 mail-away, while the 1986 Joustra European version features details such as a hard-plastic nosecone and unchromed black landing-gear wheels. The Dirge mold was also reused for several other G1 Decepticon jets, making this classic Conehead an important piece for vintage Transformers collectors.
