Devastator is the first combiner released in the original Transformers G1 toyline, created by combining all six Constructicons: Bonecrusher, Hook, Long Haul, Mixmaster, Scavenger, and Scrapper. Based on Takara’s Diaclone “Construction Vehicle Robo” team, the six figures combine into the massive Decepticon robot Devastator. Unlike later Scramble City combiners, the Constructicons have a fixed combination, with their vehicle weapons also serving as important parts of the combined robot.
For collectors, G1 Devastator is notable for its ambitious early-combiner engineering, distinctive chrome drill attachments, and several well-known connection and alignment issues that can affect the combined figure’s stability and appearance. European releases also included unusual 1985 Milton Bradley versions and 1986 yellow Joustra-produced Constructicons, making regional variants particularly interesting to vintage Transformers collectors.
