Defensor (1986) is the G1 Autobot combiner formed from the five Protectobots, with Hot Spot serving as the torso. Unlike most Scramble City combiners, Defensor’s head is built into Hot Spot’s ladder assembly rather than being a separate piece, giving it an unusually high degree of articulation. His standard configuration places Blades and First Aid as the arms and Groove and Streetwise as the legs, although the Protectobots can be rearranged into different limb positions.
For collectors, Defensor is notable for its distinctive engineering, extensive articulation, and frequent transformation variations seen in vintage examples and official artwork. The original G1 release was available as individual Protectobot figures or as a giftset. Defensor was originally designed for Takara’s planned Diaclone Jizai Gattai concept before becoming part of Transformers, and the mold was later redecoed as Guard City.
