The 1985 Transformers G1 Cosmos is an Autobot Mini Vehicle that transforms into a distinctive flying saucer based on the classic Adamski-style UFO design. Originally released by Takara as Adams, the toy features small wheels underneath for rolling play. For collectors, Cosmos is notable for minor production variations, including differences in the copyright stamping on the underside and versions with or without the yellow ring on top of his head.
Cosmos is also a particularly interesting G1 mail-away figure. In the United States, he was offered through the 1986 Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction promotion, while the Japanese release was available exclusively by mail order rather than through regular retail. The red paint on Cosmos's head is prone to wear because that area is used during transformation, making clean examples and less-common head variants especially desirable to vintage Transformers collectors.
