Silverhawks Bluegrass With Side Man (1987)

Bluegrass with Side Man is a vintage SilverHawks action figure released by Kenner in 1987, based on the musical hero from the classic animated series. The figure includes Bluegrass, his transforming companion Side Man, a removable cowboy hat, and a carrying strap for Side Man.

Bluegrass features a unique action mechanism that launches Side Man from a slot in his back by squeezing the figure's legs together. Side Man transforms from a guitar into a robotic bird by pushing in the head to extend the wings, recreating the character's signature weapon from the cartoon.

The figure was released in multiple international variants. The standard U.S. release is available in two card variations: Wave 1 features an angled logo with yellow diagonal text, while Wave 2 has a revised logo angle and white horizontal text. Other releases include Kenner Canada, Kenner UK, Kenner France, and an Antex Argentina version, which is distinguished by a white SilverHawks chest emblem and a lighter sky-blue suit.

Today, the Bluegrass with Side Man action figure is a sought-after collectible among SilverHawks, Kenner, and 1980s action figure collectors, especially when complete with all original accessories and packaging.
