The 1987 Transformers G1 Computron is the combined form of the five Autobot Technobots: Scattershot, Afterburner, Lightspeed, Nosecone, and Strafe. Using the classic Scramble City-style combination system, the four smaller Technobots become interchangeable arms and legs attached to Scattershot's body. Computron is completed with a large chest plate, head, fists, and feet, and uses Scattershot's rifle as his primary weapon.
The original Technobots were generally sold individually, with Scattershot sold as the central boxed figure and the other four members released on cards. A notable production detail involves Computron's footplates: the instructions call for two different designs, including one intended to accommodate Nosecone's unusual leg connection, but the production version included two identical center-peg plates. Nosecone and Lightspeed also face backward when used as legs, making Computron one of the more distinctive G1 combiners.
