Shogun Warriors Grandizer Saucer (Grendizer Solar Saucer) is a rare European-market release based on the Japanese Popy GA-37 UFO Robot Grendizer set. The Mattel version simplified the original design while retaining the iconic Grandizer robot and Solar Saucer combination.
Grandizer Saucer Release Differences
- Mattel European Release: Only released outside the U.S., featuring simplified paint applications and fewer stickers compared with the Japanese Popy version.
- The Solar Saucer loses the original rocket-firing feature from the main saucer body; the Japanese version could fire missiles from both the saucer and side pods.
- Grandizer includes two fists instead of the four included in the Popy boxed set.
- Packaging features multilingual text in English, French, German, and Italian, reflecting Grendizer's popularity in Europe under names such as Goldorak (France) and Goldrake (Italy).
A rare and desirable Shogun Warriors / Grendizer collectible, the Grandizer Saucer is sought after by fans of UFO Robot Grendizer, Mattel vintage toys, and classic Japanese super robot collectibles.
