Cloudburst is a 1988 Transformers G1 Pretender who transforms into a red-and-black Cybertronian star cruiser. The figure includes a thunderbolt laser pistol that can be used in both robot and cruiser modes, with the packaging suggesting it functions as a particle beam cannon in vehicle mode. Cloudburst also features molded wheel details on his arms and shoulders, reinforcing the idea of a landing configuration for his cruiser mode.
His two-piece Pretender shell resembles a human astronaut in red and gray armor and comes equipped with a lightning whip, laser pistol, removable helmet, and belt. The accessories help secure the shell around the robot and add to its play value. The same toy was released in Japan by Takara as Phoenix, with no significant differences from the Cloudburst version.
