Shogun Warriors Great Mazinga (Great Mazinger) is a 3½-inch Collector's Shogun Warriors figure based on the Japanese super robot Great Mazinger. It is easily identified by its black die-cast metal torso, blue plastic limbs, horned skull-like head, and large red plastic "V" chest emblem. The name change from Mazinga to Great Mazinga reflects the updated character design used in later Mattel jumbo and die-cast releases.
Great Mazinga Release Variations
- Mattel U.S. Release: Packaged in the standard small hanging box with a top-fold peg display design.
- Mattel European Release: Released in both skinny box and wide box packaging variations.
- Nacoral Spain Release (1983): Released as Mazinger in the Robots del Dr. Infierno line. Features slightly different paint and replaces the molded red chest "V" with a sticker.
- Bandai GoDaiKin Release: Includes additional stickers and was packaged on a carded backing.
- Bandai Asian Release: Released in skinny box packaging with Kana markings and additional stickers similar to the GoDaiKin version.
With its distinctive horned head, black-and-blue color scheme, and connection to Great Mazinger / Great Mazinger, this figure remains a sought-after collectible among Shogun Warriors, GoDaiKin, and vintage Japanese robot toy collectors.
