Shogun Warriors Poseidon (1977)

The Shogun Warriors Getter Robo Go Poseidon is a highly collectible die-cast robot released by Mattel, inspired by the Getter Robo Go Poseidon design from Japanese mecha history. This figure is especially notable for its multiple release variations, with differences in articulation, accessories, missiles, and packaging.

The first release is the most desirable version because it closely replicates Poseidon’s original design features. It includes functional tread-like shins that fold backward for tank-style movement, movable rocket launchers that shift from the back to the shoulders for firing, a chrome neck ring, black “V” belt decal, six black/navy missiles, and a green styrofoam insert with a windowed box design.

The second release simplified the figure by locking the tread-shin mechanism and rocket launchers in place. It removed the belt decal, included four missiles instead of six, and updated the packaging and action features.

The third release introduced redesigned yellow “safety missiles,” a red-painted belt “V” detail, and packaging marked with a “Redesigned Rockets Inside” sticker. These variations make the Shogun Warriors Getter Robo Go Poseidon a sought-after collectible among fans of Getter Robo, Mattel Shogun Warriors, vintage Japanese robots, die-cast mecha, and classic anime collectibles.
