Chop Shop is a 1985 Transformers G1 Deluxe Insecticon that transforms into a predominantly brown robotic stag beetle. His robot mode retains prominent insect details, including beetle horns on his shoulders and insect legs on his arms. Chop Shop comes with a photon cannon and vibro-spear, and notably features ball joints throughout all six insect legs, making him one of the earliest Transformers toys to use ball-joint articulation.
The Chop Shop toy is a redeco of Beet-Gugal from the Japanese Armored Insect Corps Beetras toyline, using a color scheme created specifically for Transformers. Because the original mold was owned by Bandai, Chop Shop was not released in Takara's version of the Transformers line, making this 1985 Deluxe Insecticon a particularly distinctive G1 release.
