The 1987 Transformers G1 Chase figure is an Autobot Throttlebot that transforms into a Ferrari Testarossa sports car. Like other Throttlebots, Chase features a built-in pull-back motor, allowing him to speed across smooth surfaces in both car and robot modes. Released during the fourth year of the U.S. Transformers toyline, Chase was also part of the 1987 Decoy promotion, with carded figures packaged with soft-rubber Autobot or Decepticon Decoy figures.
In Japan, Chase and the other Throttlebots were included in a promotional campaign that offered one of six random all-white Autobot Master Warrior figures with qualifying purchases. These promotional Master Warriors have become particularly valuable among vintage Transformers collectors. Chase remains notable as a G1 Throttlebot, Ferrari Testarossa alternate mode, pull-back motor toy, and 1987 Decoy-era release.
