The 1988 Hasbro G1 Chainclaw is a Pretender Beast from the fifth year of the original Transformers toyline. Chainclaw transforms into a gray-and-yellow robotic bear with a double-barreled Solid Sonic Energy Blaster that mounts on his back in beast mode or on his shoulder in robot mode.
Chainclaw’s standout feature is his large Pretender shell, which resembles an armored brown bear and completely encloses the inner robot. The shell includes a removable silver battle helmet and can also carry the energy blaster. Chainclaw was not released in Japan, making the 1988 U.S. release particularly notable for G1 collectors.
