G1 Buzzsaw is a Decepticon Mini-Cassette released by Hasbro in 1984. This classic Transformers toy transforms from a microcassette into a robotic condor and fits inside the cassette compartment of the G1 Soundwave and G1 Blaster figures. Buzzsaw was originally packaged exclusively with Soundwave, giving collectors an immediate companion for Soundwave’s cassette gimmick, and came with twin mortar cannons.
Buzzsaw is notable for having a Transformers-exclusive color scheme rather than being reused from Takara’s Micro Change line. Starting in 1985, some releases added a heat-activated Decepticon rubsign to the front of the cassette mode while retaining the existing Decepticon insignia on his head. Today, G1 Buzzsaw remains an important vintage Decepticon cassette figure and a popular accessory for original Soundwave collections.
