Lord of the Rings Charger of the Ringwraith (1979)

Charger of the Ringwraith is a 1979 Knickerbocker The Lord of the Rings action figure accessory based on the animated film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic. The figure-scale horse stands approximately 7.5 inches tall and includes a battle shield, saddle and reins for use with Ringwraith the Black Rider character figure.

The Charger of the Ringwraith Lord of the Rings toy is considered one of the more difficult pieces to find from Knickerbocker’s vintage Tolkien toy line, with this horse being among the rarest. Collectors should note that the horse’s hooves are fragile and many surviving examples show breakage or damage. Its rarity and unique role as a companion piece make it highly desirable among Lord of the Rings collectors, vintage fantasy toy enthusiasts, and fans of early Tolkien merchandise.
