Blackstar Meuton with Alien Demon (1983)

Meuton is one of the most distinctive villains from Galoob’s 1983 Blackstar toy line, designed as a sinister insectoid or “wasp-man” warrior. Unlike many Blackstar characters, Meuton was a toy-only character who did not appear in the 1981 Filmation animated series. The approximately 5.5-inch figure features a bug-eyed green helmet, ribbed insectoid torso, carapace-like details, and translucent neon-green wings. His mixed-material construction combines rigid plastic with softer PVC limbs, while his accessories include a translucent green sword and matching glow-in-the-dark shield.

Meuton’s large translucent wings are one of his most recognizable features but are also particularly vulnerable to damage. The wings attach directly to the back and can snap at their connection points during play. Galoob later reissued Meuton in the 1984–1985 Laser Light series, adding the line’s signature mechanical sparking gimmick. A flint-and-striker wheel on his back produces sparks inside a translucent chest cavity, creating the appearance of energy surging through the insectoid villain.

The original 1983 Galoob Meuton with Alien Demon was packaged with a small, unarticulated Alien Demon companion, most commonly found in a bright neon-red color. The approximately 3-inch PVC creature features gargoyle-like wings, a long tail, and painted facial details. With his unusual insectoid design, fragile translucent wings, glow-in-the-dark weapons, Alien Demon companion, and later Laser Light variation, Meuton is a memorable and distinctive figure for collectors of the vintage Galoob Blackstar toy line.
