Blackstar Vizir with Alien Demon (1985)

The 1983 Galoob Blackstar Vizir, also spelled Vizier on some international materials, is the villainous “Ice Castle Wizard” and one of Evil Overlord's most important advisors in the Filmation Blackstar series. Standing approximately 5.5 inches tall, Vizir has a distinctive stocky build, blue skin, a scowling expression, pink molded helmet, and dark purple sorcerer's robe with a high collar. His bulky costume limits articulation primarily to the head and arms, and he was originally packaged with a distinctive glow-in-the-dark ram's-head staff.

Galoob later released a Laser Light version of Vizir during the 1984–1985 period, adding the line's signature sparking action feature. A flint wheel hidden in the back of the figure creates friction sparks when spun, with the effect visible through a translucent colored lens in the center of his chest. This upgraded version is an important variation for collectors because the Laser Light mechanism distinguishes it from the original 1983 Vizir figure.

Like other major Blackstar villains, Vizir was packaged with an Alien Demon companion. The approximately 3-inch, non-articulated minion was molded in bright green PVC and featured painted eyes and a long tail. The combination of Vizir's unique blue-and-purple wizard design, glow-in-the-dark staff, included Green Alien Demon, and later Laser Light variation makes the Galoob Blackstar Vizir figure a distinctive and collectible entry in the vintage toy line.
