Blackstar Gossamer Trobbit (1984)

Gossamer, sometimes spelled Gossamear in official Blackstar checklists, is one of the six companion Trobbits (Tree Hobbits) produced by Galoob for the Blackstar toy line. Known as the flying-type Trobbit in the Filmation series, Gossamer is distinguished by his enormous ears, which allow him to glide through the air. The approximately 3-inch, unarticulated PVC figure features a squat body, expressive face, pinkish-purple skin, white molded hair, and bright turquoise clothing and boots.

Gossamer is considered one of the most distinctive and hardest-to-find Blackstar Trobbits. Unlike many Trobbits that were commonly included with hero action figures, Gossamer appeared in more specialized releases, including single-carded packaging, premium multipacks such as the Trobbits of the Zagar Tree set, and the Trobbit Wind Machine playset. His unusual distribution makes him an important figure for collectors completing the original Galoob Blackstar Trobbit lineup.

The most recognizable feature of the Gossamer Trobbit figure is his oversized ears, which extend dramatically from the sides of his head. These large, thin ears are also the figure’s most vulnerable areas, with loose examples commonly showing paint scuffs, rub marks, and play damage along the edges. Despite his small size, Gossamer remains one of the most memorable and collectible companion figures from the vintage Galoob Blackstar toy line.
