Blackstar Neptul with Alien Demon (1983)

Neptul, the “Lord of Aquaria,” is a classic villain from Galoob’s Blackstar toy line and one of the few toy villains to appear in the 1981 Filmation animated series, most notably in the episode The Kingdom of Neptul. The approximately 5.5-inch 1983 Series 1 figure captures his aquatic monster appearance with a deep green scaly body, yellow face and boots, blue chest armor, and a distinctive finned head with sculpted gill details. His early figure uses mixed materials, including a softer rubber head and pliable PVC limbs.

The 1983 Neptul figure came equipped with a translucent green glow-in-the-dark shield and matching trident/staff. Like other figures from the original Blackstar wave, Neptul uses a rubber-band-based leg construction that can deteriorate with age, leaving vintage examples with loose or detached legs. This is an important condition issue for collectors looking for a complete and intact Galoob Blackstar Neptul figure.

As a villain, Neptul was packaged with a small Alien Demon companion, typically found in a bright yellow or yellow-green color. The approximately 3-inch unarticulated PVC creature complemented the larger figure and represented the evil faction of the Blackstar toy line. With his Filmation connection, aquatic monster design, glow-in-the-dark weapons, and Alien Demon companion, 1983 Neptul with Alien Demon is an essential figure for collectors of the vintage Galoob Blackstar series.
