Blackstar Mara with Trobbit (1983)

Mara is one of the most sought-after figures from Galoob’s 1983 Blackstar toy line and is widely regarded as one of the hardest standard figures to find. As the powerful enchantress of Sagar and the only heroic female character in the original Blackstar lineup, Mara was produced in smaller numbers than many of her male counterparts. Her figure features a distinctive lavender skin tone, a large flowing blue ponytail, and translucent green glow-in-the-dark magical energy accessories.

The 1983 Mara figure has several notable design and condition issues that make complete examples difficult to find. Her lavender skin is prone to fading or discoloration from age and UV exposure, while the separate blue hairpiece attaches to the back of her head with a small plug that can easily break or become lost. Her translucent green magic accessories are also frequently missing from loose examples. These characteristics make an original Mara with vibrant coloring, intact hair, and complete accessories particularly desirable to Blackstar collectors.

As a heroic character, Mara was packaged with a Trobbit companion, with releases featuring either Balkar, the elder Trobbit, or Carpo. The companion stands approximately 2.5 inches tall and is made from solid, unarticulated PVC. Because of Mara’s limited production, fragile accessories, easily lost hairpiece, and aging-related discoloration, the 1983 Galoob Blackstar Mara with Trobbit remains one of the most collectible and recognizable figures in the vintage Blackstar toy line.
