Windcharger is a 1984 Transformers G1 Mini Vehicle that transforms into a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am sports car. The G1 Windcharger toy was part of the original Autobot Minicar assortment and was reissued in 1985 with a flattened lower abdomen, a heat-sensitive rubsign replacing the hood insignia sticker, and a blue Mini-Spy included in one of four styles.
The Transformers G1 Windcharger has several regional variations, including Mexican IGA and Venezuelan Rubiplas releases that closely resemble the Hasbro version but lack painted faces. Reports of darker-red 1985 versions remain unconfirmed and may be caused by photodegradation, making regional variants an interesting aspect of this vintage G1 Mini Vehicle collectible.
