Vortex is a 1986 Transformers G1 Combaticon that transforms into a Kaman SH-2 Seasprite helicopter. The G1 Vortex toy includes a Semi-Automatic Glue Gun and two large tri-barrel cannons, and uses ball-jointed shoulders. He normally forms the left arm of Bruticus, but his Scramble City-style design allows him to occupy any limb position.
The Transformers G1 Vortex has notable production variations, with early releases using a deep-purple painted die-cast chestplate and later versions replacing it with lighter-purple plastic. Some inner parts are prone to photodegradation and can become brittle after yellowing. The left cannon was later retooled for the Action Master Over-Run, making Vortex a distinctive vintage G1 Combaticon collectible.
