Stranglehold is a 1989 Transformers G1 Pretender whose inner robot transforms into a robotic rhino. The G1 Stranglehold toy includes a large Brawn Blaster, small Concussion Blaster, removable helmet, and rhino back/tail piece that becomes a shield for his Pretender shell. The Concussion Blaster can be held by the inner robot or mounted on the rhino's back.

The Transformers G1 Stranglehold Pretender shell resembles an intergalactic wrestler or circus strongman, with storage for the Concussion Blaster inside the leg. Unlike his Marvel Comics appearance, the toy does not include his signature spiked-ball-and-chain weapon. No version of the Stranglehold mold or character was released in Japan, making him a distinctive vintage G1 Pretender collectible.
