The 1984 Transformers G1 Bluestreak is an original Autobot Car that transforms into an accurate Datsun 280ZX Turbo. The figure features classic G1 construction with painted die-cast metal, rubber tires, metallic silver paint, a vacuum-metalized Beam Rifle, and two shoulder-mounted missile launchers. The Hasbro version had weakened launcher springs for safety, while the Takara release retained stronger firing mechanisms. A 1985 reissue added the iconic Autobot rubsign.
The G1 Bluestreak toy originated from Takara’s Diaclone: Car Robots line and uses an all-silver deco that became closely associated with the Transformers character and animation model. Packaging and catalog images showing a blue-sided Diaclone version created the long-running “blue Bluestreak” rarity myth, but no blue-sided Bluestreak was officially released under the Transformers name.
