The 1989 Transformers G1 Bludgeon is a Decepticon Pretender featuring a highly detailed samurai-themed outer shell and a smaller inner robot that transforms into a green-and-lilac quad-tread tank. The tank’s turret separates into a shield for the Pretender shell and an Electric Cannon for the inner robot, while the included Laser Rifle provides an additional weapon for the shell. The tank’s static tracks do not contain wheels, so the vehicle cannot roll normally.
Bludgeon’s Pretender shell is one of the most distinctive in G1, depicting an orange-and-maroon armored samurai with a human skull head and removable helmet. The skull features detailed sculpting, including teeth and cranium seams. Released in 1989, Bludgeon is especially notable among G1 Pretenders for combining a sinister samurai design with an armored tank alternate mode.
