Smokescreen is a 1985 Transformers G1 Autobot Car that transforms into a Datsun 280ZX Turbo based on a real racing car. The G1 Smokescreen toy includes an Electro-Disruptor Rifle, two spring-loaded missile launchers, and three missiles. Hasbro weakened the launcher springs for safety, while the Japanese release retained their full strength.
The Transformers G1 Smokescreen mold is a redeco and retool of Bluestreak and Prowl, featuring a larger front fender and rear spoiler. A Mexican IGA variant uses the earlier bumper and rear-window molds, while the production toy retained the real racing car's 38 decal, despite plans to replace it with an Autobot insignia.
