Sideswipe is a 1984 Transformers G1 Autobot Car that transforms into a Lamborghini Countach LP500S. The G1 Sideswipe toy includes a laser gun, shoulder-mounted rocket launcher, and three rockets, although the US release had weakened launcher springs for safety. The 1985 version added a rubsign, while the Japanese release restored the stronger launcher spring.
The Transformers G1 Sideswipe mold originated from Takara's Diaclone Car Robots line and includes a small pilot slot under the canopy. The same mold was later reused for Red Alert, Clampdown, Deep Cover, and Tigertrack. Sideswipe carries Takara ID 04 and remains a popular vintage G1 Autobot Car collectible.
