Transformers Generation 1 Blaster (1985)

The 1985 Hasbro G1 Blaster toy is the Autobot Communications Center and one of the most recognizable Generation 1 Transformers. Blaster transforms into a large portable boombox and features working-style spring-loaded buttons, including Start, Stop, and Eject. The Eject button opens his chest compartment, which stores one Transformers Mini-Cassette such as Eject, Rewind, Ramhorn, or Steeljaw. In robot mode, Blaster has limited articulation at the neck and shoulders and carries his signature Electro-Scrambler rifle.

The G1 Blaster figure originated from a Microman role-play toy, which explains its unusually large size and some of its distinctive construction details. Early versions included a removable rear panel that originally housed a cassette compartment, while some later reissues omitted it. Blaster is an important 1985 Autobot toy, best known as the heroic counterpart to Decepticon Soundwave and for introducing the classic Autobot Mini-Cassette gimmick to the G1 Transformers line.
