Repugnus is a 1987 Transformers G1 Monsterbot that transforms from robot into a bizarre insect-like creature. The G1 Repugnus toy includes a Venom Laser gun and features a sparking gimmick that produces “cold” sparks from the creature's mouth when a geared button on its head is pressed. The mechanism also moves the mandibles open and closed.
In Japan, Repugnus, known as Repug, was not sold through the standard retail line. The figure was first offered as a mail-away contest prize through the Beastformers line and later became a mail-order release during Super-God Masterforce. The Japanese version used Hasbro packaging with additional market-identifying stickers and carries Takara ID C-98, making it a distinctive G1 Monsterbot release.
