Transformers Generation 1 Blades (1986)

The 1986 Transformers G1 Blades is an Autobot Protectobot that transforms into a red-and-white rescue helicopter inspired by the Bell UH-1 Huey. He includes a small photon pistol and two non-firing side-mounted twin launchers. As a Scramble City-style combiner, Blades can serve as an arm or leg, with his primary role being the right arm of Defensor.

For collectors, G1 Blades is notable for its production variants. Early 1986 releases featured a painted die-cast metal chest, while later versions replaced the metal with red plastic. The toy was also part of the 1986 promotional campaign that included collectible iron-on patches, with later releases featuring randomly packed Autobot Decoys. These variations make the vintage Transformers Blades Protectobot an interesting G1 collectible.
