Ratchet is a 1984 Transformers G1 Autobot Car originally based on Takara's Diaclone Onebox Ambulance Type, transforming from a Nissan Cherry Vanette SGL Coach ambulance into a robot and gun-station mode. The G1 Ratchet toy includes a Static Laser Gun, gun connector, and three missiles. Like the original Diaclone design, Ratchet was intended as a piloted mecha, so his head is represented by a face sticker applied to the back of the seat.
The Transformers G1 Ratchet figure has an unusual storage feature for its era: the Static Laser Gun can plug into the vehicle-mode undercarriage. The missiles and gun connector have no dedicated storage location. Ratchet shares his mold with Ironhide, making this early G1 Autobot Car a distinctive example of the Diaclone-based designs used in the 1984 Transformers toyline.
