Transformers Generation 1 Birdbrain (1989)

The 1989 Transformers G1 Birdbrain is a Decepticon Pretender Monster and member of the Monstructor team. His small inner robot transforms into a beaked, four-legged robotic creature and fits inside a distinctive vulture-like monster Pretender shell. Birdbrain also serves as the central torso component of the combined Monstructor robot.

The Birdbrain toy includes a rubbery outer shell with a solid back panel designed to store his pistol and Monstructor combiner parts. Like other G1 Pretender Monster shells, the rubber material is prone to developing an oily residue or spotty discoloration with age. For collectors, G1 Birdbrain is notable for its unusual monster design, Pretender gimmick, and role as part of the Monstructor G1 combiner team.
