Perceptor is a 1985 Transformers G1 Autobot Scientist originally based on the Micro Change MC-20 Micro Scope. The G1 Perceptor toy transforms into a functional microscope with up to 14X magnification and includes a red Concussion Rifle, missile launcher, and three red missiles. The launcher was originally spring-loaded, but the firing mechanism was disabled for Hasbro's release and restored in Takara's version.
The Transformers G1 Perceptor figure also has a third vehicular mode based on an artillery emplacement. Its scope becomes a cannon, allowing configurations resembling a tank or mortar cannon. The Transformers release instructions reinterpret this mode as a mobile laboratory, while Perceptor's Marvel profile refers to it as an artillery emplacement, reflecting the toy's Micro Change origins and its different interpretations in G1 Transformers media.
