Transformers Generation 1 Beachcomber (1985)

The 1985 Transformers G1 Beachcomber is an Autobot Minibot that transforms from a blue-and-white off-road dune buggy into a compact robot. Unlike many early Minibots, Beachcomber has a well-proportioned robot mode with separate feet and rotating arms, giving him a distinctive appearance and surprising play value for a small G1 figure. The mold originated from Takara’s unreleased Microman: Microchange designs before being repurposed for Transformers.

Beachcomber remained in the Mini Vehicle assortment into 1986 and was released in several regional variations, including versions with different shades of plastic, head sculpts, wheel hubs, and arm details. The French Ceji release and Greek El Greco version are particularly notable variants, while Takara released Beachcomber in Japan in the Transformers 2010 line. These regional differences and the figure’s unusual mold history make G1 Beachcomber a popular vintage Transformers collectible.
