Outback is a 1986 Transformers G1 Mini Vehicle and a retool of the 1984 Brawn figure, transforming into a khaki-and-brown off-road SUV. The G1 Outback toy features a new robot torso, head plate, and arms, along with a unique mortar cannon accessory that mounts to the vehicle roof through a 5 mm post. The cannon is difficult to use effectively in robot mode.
The Transformers G1 Outback figure was released in 1986 as part of a promotional campaign that initially included reflective iron-on patches in Mini Vehicle packaging. Later releases omitted the bonus patches. In Takara's Japanese G1 Transformers line, Outback was sold in a small box with a collector card rather than on a bubble card, adding a notable packaging variation for vintage collectors.
