Powermaster Optimus Prime is a 1988 Transformers G1 Powermaster and the first new Optimus Prime toy since the original 1984 release. The G1 Powermaster Optimus Prime toy transforms into a semi-truck and uses the Hi-Q Powermaster partner as an engine to activate the robot transformation. His trailer becomes an armed battle station with a fold-down ramp, two laser rifles, and two twin particle beam cannons, all of which can also be used as robot-mode weapons.
The Transformers G1 Powermaster Optimus Prime toy can combine its truck cab and trailer into the larger Super Optimus Prime robot mode. The trailer forms the torso while the cab inserts into it, creating a larger robot armed with all four weapons and a separate super robot head. This 1988 G1 Optimus Prime is notable for its Powermaster gimmick, heavily armed trailer, and distinctive Super Optimus Prime combination.
