Spiral Zone Sledge Hammer Battle Tank (1987)

The 1987 Tonka Sledge Hammer Battle Tank (MPN 7047) is a large Black Widows combat vehicle from the Spiral Zone toy line. Designed for the line’s 7-inch action figures, this one-man mini-tank features an aggressive armored design and one of the line’s most distinctive mechanical play features.

Its signature Sledge Hammer action uses two large swiveling mace arms with spiked wrecking balls mounted on either side of the vehicle. As the tank rolls forward, its movement mechanically drives the arms, causing the wrecking balls to swing and spin into enemy figures—no batteries required. The vehicle also features functional triangular rubber treads, a center cockpit for one Black Widow figure, rear standing space for an additional figure, and built-in storage for a character’s bulky backpack equipment.
