Spiral Zone Overlord (1987)

Overlord, also known as Dr. James Bent, was released by Tonka in 1987 as the primary villain and supreme commander of the Black Widows in the Spiral Zone toy line. Known as the "Leader of the Black Widows," Overlord is the brilliant but ruthless military scientist responsible for creating the Zone Generators and spreading the mind-controlling Spiral Zone fog across the world.

The 7-inch action figure features Overlord's distinctive mutated appearance, including pale gray skin and yellow eyes, along with a real-cloth red-and-black tiger-stripe camouflage jumpsuit and dark charcoal snap-on armor. His sinister design reflects his role as the central antagonist of the 1987 Spiral Zone franchise.

Overlord came equipped with a skull-themed combat helmet, Generator backpack, black laser pistol, flexible power hoses, decals, a Top Secret villain dossier, and a character-specific audio cassette featuring a radio-drama adventure. The combination of cloth clothing, removable armor, and specialized equipment makes him one of the most distinctive figures in the Tonka line.

Today, the 1987 Tonka Spiral Zone Overlord figure is a key collectible for Spiral Zone fans, vintage Tonka collectors, and 1980s action figure enthusiasts. Complete examples are difficult to find because the small helmet and accessories are easily lost, while the rubber power hoses commonly deteriorate with age.
