Spiral Zone Col Dirk Courage (1987)

Colonel Dirk Courage is the primary protagonist and leader of the heroic Zone Riders in Tonka's 1987 Spiral Zone toy line and animated series. Billed as “Earth's Ultimate Soldier,” Courage is the central hero of the franchise and leads the fight against Overlord and the Black Widows.

The vintage Tonka Colonel Dirk Courage figure stands approximately 7 inches tall and features a highly articulated body with a bright blue cloth military jumpsuit and removable tan and dark-brown armor. His accessories include a tan combat helmet with translucent red visor, Com-Link backpack, Neutron Blaster, flexible rubber power hoses, decals, and a “Top Secret” military file card. The original release also included the exclusive “The Secret of the Zone” audio cassette, featuring a radio-drama adventure starring Courage. Because his small armor clips and rubber hoses are easily damaged or lost, a complete 1987 Dirk Courage figure with all original accessories and clothing is particularly desirable among Spiral Zone collectors, vintage Tonka enthusiasts, and 1980s action figure collectors.
