Dune Sardaukar Warrior (1984)

The 1984 LJN Dune Sardaukar Warrior action figure is widely regarded as one of the rarest and most valuable figures in LJN’s original Dune toy line. Released late in the line’s production, when retailer interest in Dune merchandise was declining, relatively few examples reached stores, making the Sardaukar Warrior a prized vintage collectible.

The standard 5.5-inch figure represents one of the Emperor’s elite Sardaukar soldiers and features a distinctive all-black armored design inspired by David Lynch’s 1984 film. Details include bulky ribbed armor, heavy shoulder pauldrons, and a full-face gas-mask-style helmet with a prominent visor.

Like the Feyd-Rautha figure, the Sardaukar Warrior features a Battle-matic action mechanism. A lever or button on the back activates a spring-loaded motion that makes the right arm rapidly slash or hack.

The figure was also unusually well equipped, originally including three weapons: a black Imperial blaster rifle, a short combat dagger, and a long curved scimitar.

Today, the vintage 1984 LJN Sardaukar Warrior is considered a crown jewel of the Dune toy line. Its late release, limited production, distinctive movie-inspired sculpt, Battle-matic feature, and three original accessories make complete examples especially desirable to serious vintage Dune collectors.
