The 1988 Transformers G1 Backstreet is a Triggerbot that transforms from an orange Porsche 962-style Le Mans racing car into a robot. Its signature feature is a spring-loaded weapon gimmick: pressing the button on the rear flips up two chromed “proton missile cannons,” and the mechanism works in both vehicle and robot modes. Because the weapons are built into the figure, Backstreet does not include separate hand-held guns.
Backstreet has a simple G1 transformation and limited articulation, with movable arms but legs molded together. The vintage figure also features chrome details, foil decals, and a distinctive bright red robot face. Released alongside fellow 1988 Triggerbots Dogfight and Override, G1 Backstreet is a notable vintage Transformers collectible for its racing-car design and integrated spring-loaded weapon gimmick.
