1985 Transformers G1 Hoist is an Autobot Car and a retool of Trailbreaker, transforming into a green Toyota Hi-Lux pickup truck with a large orange towing apparatus. His robot mode features a new head, Full Spectrum Multi-Sensor, spring-loaded forearm launchers, two Twin Blasters, and missiles. The towing rig allows Hoist to “tow” other Transformers vehicles and accessories.
The Hasbro version had weakened missile-launcher springs to meet U.S. safety regulations, while the 1985 Takara release retained fully functional launchers. Hoist’s mold originated from Takara’s Diaclone line, but the distinctive green-and-orange color scheme was created specifically for Transformers. With his unique tow-truck design and Trailbreaker-based engineering, 1985 Hoist remains a popular vintage Transformers G1 Autobot collectible.
