1988 Transformers G1 Groundbreaker is an Autobot Pretender that transforms into a futuristic “rocket car” equipped with a large spoiler and gun assembly. His small blaster can be mounted on the vehicle’s spoiler, while the spoiler assembly converts into a larger handheld weapon for the Pretender shell. Groundbreaker also comes with an Electron Rifle and removable armor components.
His outer Pretender shell features an unusual animal-inspired chest design resembling a big cat or bear, along with a belt, helmet, and shoulder armor. Unlike many Autobot Pretenders, Groundbreaker’s shell includes additional removable armor plating. He was not released in Japan, making this 1988 Grounders-era G1 Pretender a distinctive vintage Transformers collectible.
