1987 Transformers G1 Grotusque is a Monsterbot that transforms into a robotic, winged saber-toothed cat-like monster. His signature feature is a spring-activated “cold” sparking gimmick: pressing the button on his beast-mode neck makes sparks shoot from his moving mouth. Grotusque comes with a Vaporator gun and two wings, with the weapon also able to mount on his beast-mode back.
The original Grotusque catalog photo shows the figure incorrectly transformed, with the legs not fully folded and the wings missing. Known as Grotes in Japan with Takara ID C-99, Grotusque is a distinctive 1987 Generation 1 Transformers collectible, especially notable for his unusual monster design and sparking gimmick.
