The 1986 Mattel Laser-Fire BraveStarr & Tex Hex Gift Set was the ultimate electronic release in the vintage BraveStarr toy line, pairing the 8-inch Marshal BraveStarr and Tex Hex figures with their opposing Laser-Fire backpacks. Designed as a complete two-player infrared battle experience, the deluxe window-box set allowed children to play head-to-head combat without purchasing the electronic accessories separately.

Each figure features a quick-draw action mechanism and a wired Neutra-Laser pistol connected to its electronic backpack. The blue Heroic Backpack and black Evil Backpack transmit invisible infrared beams and use chest-mounted sensors to detect hits. A successful hit triggers a continuous electronic defeat signal, creating an early form of laser-tag gameplay using 1980s toy technology.

A complete gift set includes both 8-inch figures, their hats and gear, blue and black Laser-Fire Backpacks with attached pistols, Transfreezer rifles, Tex Hex's knives, four orange Kerium Nuggets, cardboard targets, and reflective stickers.
