Bravestarr Thunder Stick (1986)

The 1986 Mattel BraveStarr Thunder Stick action figure is one of Tex Hex's most distinctive Carrion Bunch henchmen. Designed as a cyborg alien outlaw, Thunder Stick has an asymmetrical appearance with blue scaly organic skin on one side and silver-chrome cybernetics on the other. His most recognizable feature is a permanent multi-barreled laser cannon built into his robotic right arm, complemented by a purple futuristic vest, spiked shoulder armor, metallic collar, and yellow belt.

Thunder Stick features a battery-free mechanical action gimmick operated by a black button on his back. Pressing the button rapidly moves his heavy robotic arm up and down, simulating a Gatling-style firing action. The figure also includes a separate translucent yellow laser rifle for his organic left hand and a small translucent yellow targeting scope that clips over his robotic eye.

For collectors, the biggest condition concern is the figure's vacuum-metalized chrome finish, which can easily rub away, scratch, or dull with age. A complete 1986 Mattel Thunder Stick should retain the loose laser rifle and targeting scope, while examples with bright, intact chrome are especially desirable. His unusual cyborg sculpt, built-in weapon arm, mechanical action feature, and striking chrome finish make Thunder Stick a standout vintage BraveStarr action figure.
