Bravestarr Skull Walker (1986)

The 1986 Mattel BraveStarr Skull Walker is the signature vehicle of series villain Tex Hex and one of the most distinctive vehicles in the vintage BraveStarr toy line. Designed as a futuristic mechanical bull, the Skull Walker features a black body, tan animal-skull faceplate, silver horn details, and eerie hollow eyes that perfectly capture the series' space-western aesthetic.

The Skull Walker has two main configurations. In Land Stalker Mode, its elongated robotic legs allow it to stand high above the BraveStarr figures, with articulated joints for posing. Folding the legs upward transforms it into Air Machine Mode, a swooping airborne vehicle used by Tex Hex for attacks across the New Texas desert.

Rather than using batteries or projectile launchers, Mattel gave the Skull Walker a unique manual walking action feature. Turning the large black knob on its back activates internal gears that move the front and rear legs back and forth, creating a mechanical walking motion. Its imposing skull design, two transformation modes, and distinctive gear-driven action make the 1986 Mattel Skull Walker one of the most memorable BraveStarr vehicles and a highly recognizable vintage toy from the 1980s.
