Bravestarr Laser-Fire Tex Hex (1986)

The 1986 Mattel Laser-Fire Tex Hex is the deluxe electronic version of the main villain from the vintage BraveStarr toy line. It combines the 8-inch Tex Hex action figure with Mattel's black Evil Laser-Fire Backpack, creating an early infrared battle toy designed for interactive combat with the Laser-Fire Marshal BraveStarr figure.

Powered by a 9-volt battery, the Evil Laser-Fire Backpack fires invisible infrared beams and produces electronic shooting sounds. Its built-in sensor detects incoming infrared hits, triggering a continuous defeat beep when Tex Hex is successfully tagged. The set also includes a reflective cardboard target for practicing the infrared system without another player. The figure itself features a mechanical quick-draw action, with a back-mounted lever that snaps his right arm into a firing position.

The Laser-Fire Tex Hex has the distinctive lavender skin, blue cowboy hat, bandolier vest with molded knives, and purple cape associated with the character. A complete set includes the Tex Hex figure, removable hat, bandolier vest, Neutra-Laser handgun, Transfreezer rifle, translucent Kerium Nugget, black Laser-Fire Backpack, and cardboard target. Because the electronic backpack, small accessories, and target are frequently missing from loose examples, a complete 1986 Mattel Laser-Fire Tex Hex is a particularly desirable vintage BraveStarr collectible.
