1985 Transformers G1 Grapple is an Autobot Car that transforms into an orange Mitsubishi Fuso-based crane. The toy features spring-loaded missile launchers in both forearms, allowing it to fire its fists or included missiles, plus a black arc-welder rifle. Based on a Diaclone design, Grapple also retains a cab that opens for a Diaclone pilot figure.
The Japanese G1 release had fully functional missile launchers due to different toy safety regulations, while the original U.S. version used weaker springs. Grapple’s mold was later reused for characters including e-HOBBY RoadHauler, while the related fire-engine mold became Inferno and Artfire. Grapple is a notable vintage Transformers G1 collectible known for its crane vehicle mode, firing gimmicks, and Diaclone origins.
