Gnaw is a 1986 Transformers G1 Sharkticon that transforms into a squat, shark-like monster with distinctive chrome teeth. His beast-mode tail detaches to become a mace for robot mode, while he also includes a maceration laser. Gnaw is especially notable as one of the original Transformers army-builder figures, reflecting the mass-produced Sharkticon armies seen in The Transformers: The Movie and animated series.

The G1 Gnaw toy has minor production variations, including versions with two or three screws in the legs and arms, and some releases included a piece of a glow-in-the-dark movie poster. In Japan, the figure was sold in limited quantities as a mail-away release under the name Sharktron, rather than through normal retail channels. Its distinctive design, army-building appeal, and role in G1 media make Gnaw a popular vintage Transformers collectible.
